INTRODUCTION
final cut pro and imovie don't have any built-in emojis or elements or stickers as they're known but there's a way to get some of these into both of the applications i also use wondershare formula as one of my editing programs and it's got heaps of different stickers and emojis and elements as they're called so i'll show you how to access these animations
IMOVIE CREATE
so that you can use them in final cut pro and in imovie and the concepts the same for any video editor that has stickers included as part of its package this video will show you how to import a selection of those animated emojis and have them working in final cut pro and in imovie and at the end of the video i'll give you a bonus tip on how you can save these for future use let me show you in femora first and then i'll show you how to use it in final cut pro and in imovie create a new project in femora
SAMPLE COLOUR
select all the elements that you'd like to use my suggestion is to create separate selections of the elements by the categories that femora already has them listed as but that's over to you the process is the same and for this exercise i'll just make a selection from the love elements first select the my media tab and the sample colors in the sample media folder drag the green into video track 1 in the timeline and then next select the elements that you'd like included if you want them all select one and press command plus a but if you just want a few well then select all that's command plus a and then with the command key held down click the ones
HIGH RESOLUTION
you don't want to include and then drag them all into the timeline above the green background and track 2 will be created for you and as a suggestion it may be easier to drag everything into the timeline and then remove the ones you don't want the clips will snap together as you delete them anyway extend the green background so that it's the same length as all of the elements that you've got in the timeline click the export button and it's going to be best to have this at a high resolution as possible but if you want to save a bit of disk space well then don't have such a high resolution
BACKGROUND
i'm going to show you here select apple prores and change the settings to 3840x2160 name the file and save it to a destination now let's open imovie and drag the save file into the browser add a clip to the timeline and then drag that elements clip into the timeline above the background now make sure the element clip is selected and move the playhead to the end of the element you want to use right click and select split clip and do the same at the beginning of the element if you need select the clip and click the overlay button in the inspector
RESIZE AND POSTIONS
select green screen and voila imovie doesn't allow you to reposition or resize the element but you can do that in final cut pro if you really want to resize it in imovie then i'd suggest you create a new 4k project export the reposition clip and then drag it back into the original project i'll show you here drag the elements clip into the timeline and as you've saved it as a 4k file already from pomora the imovie project will now be 4k drag a green background place the element clip above and then select the element clip in the inspector and select picture and picture resize and position
SPLIT
where you want the element to appear you're going to need to recolor the green background in the inspector to match the background in the element now all you need to do is export as a file and select 4k import it back into imovie and select the green screen again and now your element is repositioned resized where you want it to be in final cut pro import the element clip save from femora drag a background into the timeline and drag the element clip above it select here in the effects and drag inside the element clip in the timeline you can split as you did in imovie that's blade the selection of the full clip
NEW PROJECT
where you want to use it if you want to resize and reposition the image use the transform tool and as a bonus tip i suggest that you create a new project and call that new project elements from femora save it to a location that you remember in the future and you can do this in both imovie and in final cut as always i'm here to help so if you need assistance on a specific topic in imovie or final cut pro i offer free support for urgent issues as you confronted with them
